LOS ANGELES, CA–(Marketwire – May 29, 2012) – DDoS protection firm Black Lotus completed the acquisition of DDoS protected hosting company ServerOrigin in an initiative to enhance the quality of the company’s service and customer support.

“Black Lotus has long recognized the need for cost effective DDoS mitigation options in the SMB market,” stated Shawn Marck, Vice President of Black Lotus. “Bringing ServerOrigin under Black Lotus allows us to offer high quality, low cost alternatives to otherwise costly DDoS protection services while greatly improving ServerOrigin’s capacity to provide superior support and defend against emerging threats.”

DDoS attacks are an ever growing threat, with large multi-10G and insidious Layer 7 attacks becoming more difficult for web hosts and smaller DDoS protection companies to manage. As part of Black Lotus, ServerOrigin will have access to one of the world’s most capable DDoS attack scrubbing centers and will continue to have the resources to defeat zero day threats.

“ServerOrigin’s team is incredibly excited about the acquisition and we feel that the brightest days are ahead. Black Lotus has proven themselves as one of the most respected DDoS protection services in the market, with over 13 years dedicated to the mitigation of online attacks,” stated Kevin Hatfield, former President of ServerOrigin.

Black Lotus will preserve the ServerOrigin brand, offering lower cost DDoS protection services while continuing to provide enterprise grade solutions to companies seeking to maximize overall value. The firm will dedicate the coming weeks performing a comprehensive analysis of ServerOrigin’s operations, while implementing processes to elevate the customer’s overall experience.
