Mitigating IPv6 DDoS attacks

If you’re familiar with Black Lotus, you already know that we pride ourselves on our historic firsts. When the first DDoS attacks struck in 1999, Black Lotus responded with the world’s first DDoS mitigation solution and when the Internet Society called upon network operators to formally test a full launch of IPv6, Black Lotus responded by permanently implementing IPv6 DDoS protection across our entire network.

On June 8th, 2011 Black Lotus began protecting IPv6 traffic, a notable achievement when you consider that our major competitors were not even announcing IPv6 prefixes at that time.

Today is World IPv6 Launch, the day when websites, network operators, and equipment manufacturers are being formally asked to begin permanent support of IPv6. As a registered participant, Black Lotus is currently supporting and mitigating IPv6 DDoS attacks.
