Arman Khalili, Chief Executive Officer
Arman Khalili is a hands-on executive with extensive computer technology, sales and business development background; he poses a mix of entrepreneurship and operation management skills. He is a principal at Industry Capital spearheading the internet infrastructure practice. Industry Capital is a San Francisco based PE fund manager founded 2003. IC and its affiliated entities manage more than $1.4 billion in discretionary assets. IC owns and operates several private equity platforms focused on real assets: real estate, inter-modal leasing, energy, and data-centers. Mr. Khalili was an advisor at Harbor Ridge Capital, a boutique mergers and acquisitions advisory firm to the internet infrastructure sector. He was previously the CEO/Founder of UnitedLayer, LLC, San Francisco’s largest collocation and managed hosting company, where he led the company from inception in 2001 to successful acquisition in 2010. Prior to UnitedLayer, he was the CEO of NeXTLayer, a secured Email ASP. He was the CTO of MusicBank, world’s first (2000) and largest Music Subscription company. He is a serial entrepreneur and started his technical career in Silicon Valley by being the founder of San Francisco’s first public ISP in 1993, Sirius Connections. Mr. Khalili has held various positions at Level 3, AT&T, NeXT and Apple Computers. He earned a B.S. degree in Computer Science from San Francisco State University and was a part time instructor at UCLA extension.
Warren Dewar, Chief Financial Officer
Warren Dewar brings more than 15 year of experience as an executive and advisor to companies with a focus on the technology industry. Prior to joining Black Lotus, Warren was an investment banker at Credit Suisse, Bank of America and for a boutique M&A firm with offices in San Francisco and Paris. For more than 15 years, Warren has advised leading companies on strategic matters including growth equity, M&A, joint ventures and capital raising with clients in both public and private companies across a variety of industries. Previously, Warren was a co-founder and CFO of Pay by Touch, a biometric payments software company focused on innovation in the electronic payments industry. Warren started his career as an intelligence analyst at the CIA where he spent five years in various roles. Warren holds an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. from the University of South Carolina.
Ryan Smith, Director of Technology
Ryan Smith has over 17 years experience in the telecommunications and networking industry, 10 of which was surrounding security. A majority of his experience comes from working in enterprise network operations centers for large telcos/ISPs such as Sprint, Verizon, and Comcast. Currently Ryan is now the Director of Technology after having previously managed the Black Lotus SOC (Security Operations Center) which acts as a first responder for DDOS attacks, hosted customer issues, and provisioning of services. Ryan is Black Lotus employee number 3 and has been essential in the growth of the company and transitioned through several mitigation solutions and strategies. Previously Ryan has worked in the healthcare and financial sector involved with cradle to grave network design, implementation, and security and is familiar with PCI DSS/HIPAA procedure and challenges. Ryan has played the piano for over 25 years, is an avid computer gamer, fantastic cook, and is an experienced snowboarder.
